Questions About TAYO Weddings and Special Occasions
Are Service Portfolio prices fixed?
While Service Portfolio prices are fixed at cost effective rates, all of our clients are special to us and deserve the best possible service and attention, so a bride-to-be on a smaller budget can always create a Customized Portfolio to meet all of her needs and stay within her financial range.
Is my access to you limited?
There is no hourly limit within the Service Portfolios. Your TAYO consultant is always available by e-mail to answer your questions and allay your concerns; in addition she can be reached by phone beyond standard business hours (within reason).
How do you select your recommended vendors?
Every vendor TAYO recommends has either worked with us in the past and proven themselves to uphold the same high standards we abide by or has been individually interviewed by us and/or has been referred by at least two other wedding professionals.
How long will you be on site once the reception starts?
Your TAYO consultant and her assistant are on site throughout the event and until all contractual agreements with the site and/or other vendors have been met (e.g., room swept clean, deejay received final payment).
What does “TAYO” stand for?

Questions about Weddings?
What are some cultural touches I can add to my ceremony and/or reception?
You can incorporate cultural patterns, colors or fabrics in your ceremony or reception decor. You can also use flowers and other natural elements indigenous to your heritage in your floral design.
In the African American tradition, you can Jump The Broom at the reception to symbolize the starting of a new life and home together. Also in the African tradition, you can feed your elders a small piece of bread or a kola nut to honor your connection to them.
In both the Latino and African tradition, you can do a dollar dance at the reception that allows your guests to further help you establish your new life and home together.
In the Caribbean tradition, you can provide your guests with a slice of black cake at the reception.
Do I have to have an even number of bridesmaids and groomsmen?
No, you don't. You can have any combination of men and women stand up with you. You might have them walk down the aisle singly, pair up everyone except the maid of honor and best man or vice versa.
Do I have to wear white?
It is no longer necessary to follow the tradition of a first time bride wearing white and, in fact, many brides of other cultures never wear white opting to wear vibrant red, for example. However, in America the bride of the 21st century can wear accents of vibrant color or subtle shades of pink, gold or ivory without upsetting anyone (Grandma’s) sensibilities.
How important is following wedding etiquette?
Wedding etiquette is ultimately designed to let you and your guests know what to expect of each other, and depending on the formality of your wedding ceremony and reception, it can be critical to having things flow smoothly. At the same time, expectations continue to evolve and new rules crop up, as in when to turn off your cell phone. So if following etiquette is important to you, TAYO will make it an integral part of our planning and if it is not, we’ll treat etiquette as a guide as opposed to the rule.
